Congratulations to Jack Logansmith (7th Grade) who has qualified to participate at the state level of the National Geographic Bee. The state geography bee will be held on Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Catonsville Campus of the Community College of Baltimore County. This is a very high honor as only 100 students from the state of Maryland are selected.
We wish Jack the very best of luck as he goes to the next level of competition! |

Because of our snow interruptions to our school calendar, we have used all five of the days built into our school for snow, plus one more day. Therefore, March 12, originally designated as a Professional Development day for teachers only, is now a regular school day. That means students ARE expected to be in school on Friday, March 12. If Mother Nature treats us to more severe blasts of winter - and indeed she may - we will evaluate our calendar again once she leaves our area. But for now, we are in total compliance with state attendance requirements. Since hot lunch had not been scheduled on the calendar for March 12th, all students will be required to bring lunch.

| The Middle School Variety Show will take place on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 7:00 PM. It is called “A Ride Through the 70’s.” The Middle School has already been learning about the history, culture, and great music of the 70’s. Just ask any student what “Can you dig it?” means! Please join us for music, dance, singing, comedy, and a few surprises. |

| Thank you so much to all of the parents who baked cookies, brownies, etc. for the bake sales and to the parents who helped to sell it all. We also had several people give cash donations. The grand total is $2,573.25. |

Flowers for Teachers
During our PTO Fair held Thursday, February 4th, parents who stopped by had a chance to sign golden star balloons for all our St. Martin's staff. Those balloons and an accompanying Spring plant were then delivered by parent volunteers to our wonderful teachers. Thank you to all who helped deliver these gifts of love. A very big thank you goes out to Teri Tose and Sherry Crow for all their efforts and thoughtful planning in this endeavor!
Dining Out a Success!
Even with the weather against us, St. Martin's families still made it out to California Pizza Kitchen for our February restaurant event. Thanks to your efforts (and appetites), the PTO earned $207.01.
BULLDOG BASH
Invitations are being sent home with your youngest child today. Please look for them and respond promptly. Be sure to invite your friends and neighbors to come join the fun as well! Invitations are being mailed to our area Grandfriends also. This will be a great night for all who attend, so secure your babysitters and prepare for the Bulldog Bash on March 20th at the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront!
It's not too late to donate to the Bulldog Bash auction. Send your donation form (sent home with previous newsletters or e-mail the office and Debbie will send you one) to the "PTO Box" via kidmail. What can you donate? Your cooking skills, your green thumb, or even babysitting. Great at math or science? Offer to tutor. Of course we're also looking for products or services from our local businesses, so ask the vendors you frequent the most. |
Hats off to the terrific efforts of the eighth graders at last Friday's Bingo Night. They were the best worker-bees we have ever had! Energetic, cheerful, fun to work with, stayed and helped clean up.....what more can I say. And to top it all off, an 8th grader won the 50/50 raffle and donated it right back to the class. How is that for a "Class" Act? They're the best!
-- Mrs Pastrana, Class Advisor |
The PTO would like to thank everyone who came and enjoyed another wonderful BINGO night at St. Martin’s. Our 8th grade class and Mrs. Pastrana did a fabulous job serving food and raising funds!

Again we need to remind drivers about right turns only when exiting from any of the driveways. Drivers are not to exit onto Forest Drive from the carpool drop off/pick up area. Parents should inform any persons who may be picking up or dropping off your children about the traffic flow pattern. Please be considerate of other drivers. |
