Welcome to the St. Martin's Outdoor School!
A major highlight for every student at St. Martins is our OutdoorSchool – which would probably be better defined as outdoor environmental camp. During the weeklong middle school trip, they go on a 3-hour educational mountain hike, explore aquatic communities, enjoy a hands on class exploring the preserved skulls and skins of different creatures, and much more. The lower school visits Echo Hill Outdoor School to experience the life of the Chesapeake, the nature around it, and how the can help preserve the Bay. Our day to day curriculum incorporates our environment in every subject including art, math, music, science, religion, and computers. Also, we have a once a week class for our sixth graders called “Green Club” that oversees many green initiatives such as a used book-a-thon and Earth Day Celebrations. Teachers also participate in environmental education through boat explorations, staff meeting presentations, and environmental conversations.
