Concert SeriesThe music ministry also sponsors several concerts throughout the year for the congregation and as outreach to the community. These concerts offer the opportunity to enjoy he talents of top performers for a reasonable donation, including choral groups, orchestras, bell ringers, organists, singers, and instrumentalists. Notices of events and concerts are posted in the Sunday Bulletins and in Tabletalk. Special Choir Events and Hymn SingsAt special times during the year, the music ministry will embark upon a more ambitious musical creation that requires participation from a broader group than the Chancel and Retirees Choirs. For example, Donna Ervin has directed parts of Haydn's "Creation" and his "Coronation Mass" as well as parts of Bach's St. Matthew’s Passion. In 2006, the Music Ministry presented Mozart's "Te Deum" in honor of the composer's 250th birthday anniversary. In March 2007, St. Martin's choir, the Eastport Methoddist choir and the Singers Magrdrigal performed Twentiety Century composer Morton Lauridsen's "Lux Aeterna". Events such as these provide wonderful opportunities for members to sing with the choir for a single holiday or event. Summer Music ClassesEach summer Donna Ervin teaches music enrichment courses for the congregation on several Thursday evenings. Some of the courses include:
